Being MaryJane

Hey! I’m MaryJane, Founder and CEO of Racing Rain.

I’m so excited to take this journey with all of you! Earlier this year I was working and living in NYC, but with a twist of fate [helped along by a pandemic], I am unemployed and back in my parents basement [that’s where all successful businesses start right?]. 

Racing Rain has been months in the making, between learning how to make cold process soaps, and then researching ingredients I’ve incorporated into my handcrafted recipes, to then finally making my first batch of soap! I even spoke with an aromatherapist to make sure all my essential oil blends were well balanced and appealing to my customers.

My vision for Racing Rain is to create an all natural everyday bar of soap with a simple ingredient list. All products incorporate natural colorants like clays and spices, and all scents are made with 100% therapeutic grade essential oils. 

“What’s in a name?” Most people see the name Racing Rain in regards to a soap shop and just accept it as an inventive name, but what they don’t know is the level of sentimental value it holds. Set the scene: Summer, Late 90’s, Rain Storm… My brother and I either quickly change into a bathing suit or run outside fully clothed. Run to a driveway a couple houses down and get ready. Then, as soon as we see a car coming to the top of our hill we sprint! Doing everything in our power to race the car and beat it back to our driveway. Fast forward 20 years and this is still one of my favorite family memories and has now given me the name of my company.
